Repair.sg's Digital-First Field Service Blueprint
Repair.sg's growth began with online discoverability, but its real advantage is an in-house service operation.

Zames Chew bought a domain at age 16 after noticing how difficult it was to find reliable home-repair providers online. Nearly a decade later, the Singapore company he built with his brother Amos had generated about $1.3 million in 2024 revenue, according to documents reviewed by CNBC Make It.
The story can sound like another tale about a cheap domain becoming a valuable business. The more useful lesson is what happened after the website began producing demand.

Lead generation was only the opening move
Repair.sg began as an online connection point, then developed its own service capacity. Its current offering spans handyman, plumbing, electrical, pest-management, ventilation, and air-conditioning work.
That transition matters. A marketplace can attract inquiries, but it does not automatically control arrival times, workmanship, communication, or callbacks. Building an in-house team gives an operator more responsibility and more ability to improve the customer experience.
The broad service menu follows the customer
Homeowners and commercial clients rarely experience maintenance as isolated trade categories. They experience a list of problems. A multi-trade operator can become the first call for that list if dispatch, credentialing, and quality control keep pace with the added complexity.
North American contractors considering adjacent services should start with operational overlap, not a long menu. The best extension uses the same customer, service territory, scheduling infrastructure, and trust already earned by the core business.
Digital-first does not mean asset-light
Repair.sg now describes a team of more than 20 people and a fleet of service vehicles. The online front end helped customers find the company, but people, training, routing, and field execution turned that attention into a lasting operation.
That is the central lesson for young field-service founders. A modern website and fast response can open the door. Scale comes from converting that advantage into repeatable work that technicians can deliver consistently when the founder is no longer on every job.
